At St Peter’s Catholic Primary School, we have a distinctiveness in that we seek to represent the Gospel teachings of Jesus Christ and the teaching of the Catholic Church, as we are determined to grow the talents of everyone in our community.
As a school, in partnership with our community, we embrace and champion the British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.
Children at St Peter’s Catholic Primary School are encouraged to have a voice. Opportunities to stand and vote for school council representatives are available to the children and the opinions of all are valued and welcomed.
We started working in 2015 with The Young Democracy Company in order to develop a more meaningful and wider reaching pupil voice programme. Children who are voted onto the School Council will become “Gamechangers” and will receive bespoke support in order for them to carry out their duties and to raise the level of political Literacy throughout the school.
All the learning we do at St Peter’s Catholic Primary School is embedded through the teachings of the Gospels which are woven through all aspects of curriculum and school life. Respect for law and order begins as the children enter the school and respect themselves, each other, the property of the school, their place in it and that of the wider community.
