At St. Peters, our Year 6 Chaplaincy Team take an active role in the Catholic Life of our school.

Our Chaplaincy Team is split into different groups, all with an important responsibility lead the school’s life in faith by supporting our community, the local community and take action on Global fundraising. Our Chaplaincy Team take an active lead on prayer and worship in school and at Church and help with the Catholic Mission of service by helping to raise money for various charities throughout the year.

Chaplains apply to be  part of one of the groups at the end of year 5 and are trained by our Lead Lay Chaplain Chris at the beginning of the year.

The Chaplaincy Team are also invited to join with other schools in our CMAT to live out the Gospel values, particularly Discipleship.

Our Chaplains have a huge impact on the Catholic life of the school through their continued focus to improve the sense of community and to share the love of God. Please see below for more information on what each group is responsible for.

Meet our Lay Chaplain

Chris is one of our CMAT Hub Chaplains and serves 4 schools in the Trust, including us and Saint Martins. His role is to support the Catholic Life and Worship of our school, to guide our students and to help answer the big questions.

Chris is an excellent Musician and published Liturgical Composter and loves to break open the mystery of the Church and the thing we do, especially with the children.

Worship

We work alongside the Lay Chaplain to lead Celebrations of the Word, Coordinate the Lunchtime Prayer Room and help with large school celebrations both in school and at Church.

Service

We are of service to all in our school community. We look after the Foundation Stage children in CotW and Mass. We welcome visitors and take them on a tour of the school and we welcome new students when they start.

Communication

We are the outward facing branch of the Chaplaincy team who are responsible for communication. We help Chris to write parts of the Chaplaincy Newsletter ”The Rock” and keep our school website page up to date. We help to create displays around the school with an RE theme.

Witness

We work with the RE leader, Governors and Lay Chaplain to monitor and evaluate Celebration of the Word in school. We conduct learning walks to monitor Prayer Areas in classrooms and around the school and displays with an RE theme.

Charity

We take the lead in fundraising in our school by choosing a charity focus and supporting staff in preparing for fundraising days by creating posters, talking to classes and leading on the day.
